If the leathers were fitted as an aftermarket part then chances are they wont be heated because leathers were a factory option.

There is a wiring harness installed when you choose leathers on the option lists (along with the switches under the climate control unit).

If you have leather seats but non of the above look under your seat for a green switch conector and some wires. If its there and you know electrics It will be easy to make up a wiring harness. Then buy the relay & switch to control the heated seats, there is even a spare slot in you fuse box for it (f51 i think).

you say it came from a german solicitor - was the car UK sourced, or was it bought abroad and brought over, just wondering whether the heated seats was a UK only option??

Its V easy to slide the seat out if your having probs seeing the wires. There is 1 nut at the end of the seat (the end closest to the seating wheel) which you can undo with a 10mm spanner and an allen key, then slide the seat back and you will see if it has wires. You will also see if your leather has a heated element because of the connector attached under the seat.

If it doesn't have the elements then you're out of luck, must have been aftermarket seats.

sounds like it was perhaps a dealer fit, and not a factory fit..... i think the factory option was well over a grand at the time - it's around 1400 quid for the currrent model.

pics would be nice to see yours mind :)

the standard polo leather doesnt have red stitching.... however it doesnt have the vertical ribbed sections either...that's definately aftermarket... maybe the guy had it done by a leather specialist?

looks lovely though 8)

Looking at the stitching, they look VERY similar to my leathers, they are recaros im sure. Only difference is the veritcal strips. I just think the german cars had a different styling.
