Playing MP3s.....

Post by veedub-ally »

Just wondered if anyone had managed to play an MP3 CD on the new double din unit in the 9N3.

The handbook says that it is MP3 compatible but I can't get it to play MP3s on what is a really mediocre system.

Think I will be replacing it soon....... the Gamma head unit and 6-disc changer on my last car was far superior.

i think my headunit should play mp3 cds, it plays copied cds fine, but will not play mp3 cds!

veedub-ally I see from another thread [Jetta] that you had the ICE replaced so was the factory fitted unit supposed to play MP3's?

VW seem to have no clue about shuch matters as I have been trying to find out

I should be getting my new polo at the end of the month :D . But I can't live without MP3 capability as I have one in my currnet polo [fitted a non-standard Blaupunkt unit].

Hi!

The unit that was originally in my new car absolutely did not play MP3s but the brochure and website say that the car should have had an MP3 player. Basically, the garage just replaced the head unit but it is still very average. I'll be replacing it for something better when I have the cash.

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for an addon MP3 module for your RCD200, the below link may help... u can use both the CD charger & MP3 by press buttons on the headunit

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2501581

They have both USB and i-pod ver

The USB ver. works fine on my 9N gamma unit
& My friend Golf Mk5 have installed the i-pod ver. (even better sound quality)

If you need further help.. give me a shout....

Cheers

mine plays mp3's fine. Just above the disc slot it says 'mp3' and the left and right buttons have little 'folders' on them. I've seen other new Polo's though with the same head unit but without these two little things - maybe the earlier ones weren't 'MP3'.
