thinking of buying a 1.9D mk4....

Post by pete69zx »

hi all. im usually a mk3 owner, but have decided its time to upgrade a little (maybee). you see... the wife wants to learn to drive & i want her to have a little more luxury / safety than what a mk3 offers (does a mk3 actually offer any!?!? lol)... anyways, jokes aside.

im thinking of a 1.9D variant in a mk4 chassis.

please can peeps tell me information about this choice, such as.... fuel economy, servicing, performance, reliability.

as much information about a mk4 1.9D would be gratley recieved.

thanx all for helping

used to have one til i wrote it off, 64bhp same as the 1.4 8v models. i think all of them come with power steering and a driver airbag but as usal with the mark 4 the cl model will give you electric windows and split fold rear seats! its a straight deisel so power isnt amazing but it will do and its pretty hard to stall! insurance group 5 or 6 i think! check out http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carre ... 028&page=8 for a nice list of tech data! cheers nick!

I had one, and it was slow, too slow, id go for the 1.4 petrol, simmilar fuel econemy and faster in real terms.
