my car is the earliest gti they did, its on a V plate. My mum owned it from new and she did alot of miles to work and back every day - she never had any problems with it either really, 2 new rear shocks 2 lambda sensors and the recall and thats about it i think.

I WAS GONNA CHOP IT IN AGAINST A CLIO 172 BUT SAW 1 WITH 31K ON IT THE OTHER DAY AND IT WAS ABOUT FOOOKED. NEEDED A GRAND SPENDING ON IT FOR BRAKES SHOCKS AND EXHAUST SO DECIDED TO KEEP THE TRUSTY POLO :D

ps sorry 4 the caps

The quality of most of the small hatchbacks is pretty low, compared to the polo.

With regards to milage, on a VW its only really an issue at resale time. If you have 105k it should easy do another 50k if not more, assuming you look after it. I find the engine is usually last thing to go, everything else goes first.

Ha ha yeah, like the electrics

These german powerplants should be pretty bulletproof up to and beyond 150k, looks like now that I'm keeping mine for the long-term I'll be heading thru the 100k marker at some point! Just have to keep the servicing up to date and look after her.

V-plate though, damn that's an early one! I've never seen a V-plate GTi, I guess most of the early ones were press cars?
