Technically they are illegal, as they do not conform to the required British Standard.

However, this new's item on the Dubmeister site is interesting http://www.dubmeister.co.uk/siteNews2.p ... =102&id=65 as it suggests that due to the fact German Plates meet European standards, this could make them legal for use in the UK.

But unless you're willing to fund a very expensive European court case arguing this, for now it's best to assume they are illegal. But to be honest they're more legible than those with dodgy fonts and spacing trying to spell something they don't.

The last time I was stopped by the Police the Officer just asked "why I had a D symbol". I do carry my original plates in the boot just in case.

Can you put spaces and say a dash in between for eg Y24 9-OBU?

Ah well you know the saying......"Rules and laws are made by the weak and broken by the strong!!!"

I will just carry my old ones in the boot.
