1.3 cl + gt head ????

Post by Matty2021 »

I was wondering whether it was possible to use a 1.3 cl bottom end and a GT head. How much difference is there between the GT and cl bottom ends and what about looms etc, how different are they, Thanks in advance :D

The 1.3 CL and GT heads are the same, it's the pistons which are different. There are various differences on the bottom end. The wiring is different for the injection system.

uh, i thought the GT head had a different compression and a place for the injectors to go? or does that come down to the manifold and the gasket?
(& different valve sizes, cam timings?)

The combustion chamber is in the piston, not in the head (the head is flat), therefore you can only use a GT bottom end to find 10:1 compression, unless you use a GK bottom end which is 11:1 found from the German Polo 2 GTs. Unless you deck the GT bottom end to raise it.

Try sandburn Autos in Coventry for GT (3F) engines, they'll do you one for about £200.

you cant deck a GT bottom end, the pistons stick out of the block already nearly as far as the top of a standard headgasket when crushed. GK pistons fit onto any '84-on 1300 engine, Later blocks have more reliable oil pumps so IMO this is the preferred route to take.

The actual head casting on the SPI and the GT is the same, The injectors connect on the manifold. yes the cam is different but they are interchangable. 1 litres have smaller inlet valves.
