Anybody had their 1.4TDI remapped?

Leonard's question below got me thinking...

I've been looking at diesel Polos today and I've seen a few nice ones, but they've all been 1.4s. I found the 1.4TDI impressive, but it doesn't feel as quick as my 6n 16v by quite a way.

So I was wondering if anyone on here had a tuned 1.4TDI and could share any experiences? I'd be very interested to hear about performance gains/comparisons and what happens to the economy, if anyone would be so kind as to tell me - I've seen the figures on the Custom Code and Revo websites and they look interesting, but it's always good to know what they're really like.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated - all this new fangled 9n stuff is pretty alien to me

hi there

i have my 1.4tdi tuned, it's now about 109cv 237nm, very very good, but there is a weak part, the exaust manifold is always cracking

That sounds pretty good, but how many manifolds have you been through? Have you tried a stainless one?

Also, a bit off topic, but I notice from your sig that you're running TT 17"s - do you have any problems with them rubbing the arches?

i'm going to my 3 manifolds, here in portugal i can't find other manifold than the original one

yes i have TT 17' with 205/40/17 and lower 35mm, and that's great no rubbing in the arches

Got mine done today:

original:
measured 72.1 HP / corrected: 70.1 HP / 163Nm

tuned:
measured 99.1 HP / corrected: 96.4 HP / 211Nm

you feel the extra hp the most in second & third gear. Fuel consumption seems to be lower.

75bhp 1.4's normally remap well to around 95-100bhp.
If you are going through that many manifolds then it could be poor code causing way too much heat. Extra fuel or less boost should keep the temps a bit happier. I have not heard of the manifold issue before but our ambient temps are safer for tuning here in the UK.

Hi, I'am also thinking of having my 1.4tdi remapped. Once its remapped does anyone know of any problems with the clutch or any other parts due to the extra power.
Could I expect anything else to not last as long, wear out or are there any other upgrades recommended to go along with the remapping.

I would advise that you upgrade the front brakes as they will tend to fade when the car is chipped. Otherwise the rest of the car should be ok if sensibly mapped.
