Rear wiper problems - HELP

My rear wiper is constantly being temperamental, and decides to work sometimes but not others! Anyone know why this might be?

My wiper is doing the same thing.

My other half is looking at it over the weekend for me, so when I find out what is wrong with mine i'll let you know xxx

my was sticking when it was work , so when a got a second hand one today for Â£25 for thea breaker and it sorted

Mines on the fritz as well. It usually works within a couple of minutes of starting up and then stops working.

Sounds like you have a bad connection on the wiper motor?

Maybe a bit of water has got in and started to make it fail?

Take the internal panel off the boot and check all connections, unclip clean with dry brush etc then replace and give it a go!

Will try this and see what's what. I do seem to be using more water than i think i should be but i've never noticed any damp around the boot area.

Well the water jet on the rear wiper is notorious for not working on 6n2's and 9ns. The pipe pops off and leaks water into the bootlock mechanism and/or the carpet. But what you guys say sounds like the actual wiper itself?

If so could be a faulty switch on the wiper stalk.

Top plan. I'm keeping mine for a bit longer though (until the clocks go back/forward* anyway) but will shave it off for the summer

I whipped off the trim last weekend and had a good look around. All of the connections are solid and uncorroded and the pipe isn't leaking. Since putting the cover back on, the wiper's been working the whole time.

I think it's just doing it to spite me

I had the same problem. Took the cover off, gave it a damn good looking at, and it's been OK for nearly a year. To think, I could have paid VW Â£75 an hour to do the same.

Ok so i took the trim off and there's no damp or water damage and everything looks OK. Unfortunately however it still doesn't work properly! Think i might take it to VW and get them to look at it and the rattling passenger door as the same time (only rattled since they fixed it!).

See what they say but i bet it's not covered under warranty either!

Ok so vw now telling me i need a new wiper motor which they charge Â£140 without labour (no surprise there then).

I presume if i can find a mk5 polo at the scrapyard i can take one off that, or is there anywhere else i can get one cheap? Also are they easy to fit?
