Post by mysteryboy »

Got the typical email saying pass this to 18people bla bla bla...you know the ones... with this link (unless you pass it you may have to pay & if you do you dont)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1189119.stm

What do you make of it?

Bit early for April 1st isn't it? That BBC news link is over five years old.

It's a load of rubbish mate, just the usual junk mail.

Look at it this way, if they were going to charge they'd charge they wouldn't say, if you don't send this to 10 people in 24 hours your account will be cancelled or whatever.

the spam email is complete BS but i reckon they might start charging for premium options like the bbc says.....so you'll still have the basic msn for free but maybe have to pay if you want to have 1000's emoticons/winks etc....normal stuff companies try and rook people out of their money with.

It already exists, in so much as MSN offers a premium Hotmail service.

That is what I believe that old article referred to if you read it, as it isn't talking about MSN Messenger but MSN as a whole.

Either way, still a load of b*llocks.

god i hate chain mail aswell it does my friggin head in...
that email is a load of crap, no company in its right mind would keep accounts open on the basis that you have sent a chain letter to 18 people lol..

MSN are charging for a premium service, but normal service still continues.

heh, the only reason i dont have my email filter set to send anything containing the words "please send this to" NEAR "people within" NEAR "hours" OR "days" is that I have a mate fond of passing them on, but as part of a regular convo.

your only guarantee other than death and taxes is that, whenever something contains those words, it's all complete BS

Didn't the fact that the internet hasn't looked that ugly in almost a half decade tip you off? :D
There's a vague truth to it, however. MSN, Yahoo, and I think google? all charge for premium versions of their service now. Anyone remember the Hotmail account-deleting fiasco from when they implemented their first premium service, and simultaneously put some rather heavy handed restrictions on the free ones?
