please help key wont go into lock

Post by jop »

hi,

got a mk3 polo gt

went out last night - parked and locked up fine. went back to go home couple of hours later and the key wouldnt go into the drivers side lock - went in bout 1cm then just wouldnt go in any further. passenger side was fine and ended up having to open drivers door from the inside.

has anyone got any ideas what may be wrong? why this has happened? and how i can fix it?

thanks

jo

just been out to check it and its fine so it must have been frozen last night. just got bit worried!! never had a car where the locks froze before. bf has got one of those things to heat the lock up - might have to have that off him!!!

thanks for your help

Just heat your key up with a cigarette lighter, it'll melt its way through a frozen lock ;)
