Raintronic + Dimming Rear View Mirror

Does anyone know how easy or is it possible to fit this onto the gti?... if possible is it a part that i could buy from vw and has anyone any idea how to fit it to the car... cheers

If by Raintronic you mean rain sensitive wipers, I think that it it a different windscreen which has sensors built in to it.

As for the auto dimming mirror, I'm not too sure about that.

Not easy, you would need a new connecting loom for the car I recon, plus wires in the roof lining near rear view mirror, the mirror would need replacing with the auto dim version and you would need to replace the base the rear view mirror connects to with one that has the sensor built in for the rain sense

It could be perhaps possible, as im sure its all controlled by the central convieance module in the car, would need programming with vag-com perhaps too

Expensive and fiddly!

How can you tell if you already have these ?

I've got what looks like a sensor just below the rear view mirror, and my wipers go faster if its raining hard.

Sounds like you have it then... look at windscreen from outside of car, where the rear view mirror base is stuck to the windscreen, should be able to see like a mini 'camera eye' in the middle of it

Little sensor on mirror defo sounds like auto anti-dazzle rear view mirror

Do the wipers come on when it starts raining? Without you pressing anything...

If I leave the right stick at the bottom, then yes, they do come on automatically, and appear to get faster when it rains hard, and stops if rain stops etc

I bought the car from a place in kent that usually does porches and ferraris etc, and didn't really want it on their books.

None of the extras, bar the climatronic, were mentioned.

I saw it the first day it was on sale and bought it there and then.
When i picked it up, the guy asked me what was so special about it, as he had had more calls on the GTi than he had on all his other cars that week

They really are a very sought after little car !!
