VW Polo GTI reliability?
I'd argue motorway driving puts less wear on the engine. Assuming you don't do all the miles at 125. Altho as you put it, you drive it hard too. The GTi engine is tunned for high revs, it was made to be driven fast, I wonder if the testing procedure is more thorough than the normal marques. Polos main serious faults are the clutch and timing belt tensioner. I got mine changed at 60k and I will check the conidtion periodically.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't have a Clio over the Polo (unless of course its a 172/182) I do drive my Polo fairly hard but always make sure its warmed up etc its had oil changes every 5k aswell. I think the engine will go on well into the 100k. I may be unlucky with my car but I've also owned it fair amount of time so you are going to get some faults in a 4 year period regardless of what make the car is.
The actual car hasn't cost me much to run and come trade intime I am sure I will have lost less money than any other small car bar the Mini. Offers I have had against a MK5 Golf have been 4.5-5k depending on dealer considering I paid 9k for it 4 years ago I think thats good going although I got a good deal on it when I bought it originaly.
