That's actually just a "radio remote control", from waeco, (my Polo didnt have one) they also sell other car accessories including cruise control, rain sensors, airconditioning, ...

Normally you can buy it for 40 - 50 quid. It's not very exciting, if you open the car the lights will blink two times, if you close they will blink once. There's a more sophisticated version available that you can also use to control the windows or anything you want, but its more complicated to connect...
