Hi guys! are you sure its coming from the rear? had a 1.9 tdi and had knocking noises, had anti rol bar and bushes replaced but that still didnt solve the problem so we told vw to keep the car and find us another one We only had the car a week when we noticed the noises, anyway we got another one off been fine for ages and last week noticed a knocking noise intermitantly and took it to them, getting new suspension bushes fitted next week.

An Update from my knocking noise!

They've had my car for 6 whole days and I was starting to get really bad withdrawl symptoms but heres what they replaced:

1. New Wishbones
2. New Wishbone Bushes
3. Top mounts on the front suspension
4. And some bar thingy to do with the anti roll bar (already had a new anti roll bar last time)

So far, so good, it hasnt made the noise again, we'll just have to wait and see. Just thought you might be interested to know!!

There must be a serious issue with these's.

We brought one last may (1.9tdi) and noticed a knocking almost straight away so took it back to them.

From the time we brought it in may till about october we had the car for about 5 weeks!! rest of the time we were in a coursety car while they tried to sort it!

Had new anti roll bar AND bushes (which took 6 weeks to get the parts!!!!!) New tyres , new wishbones (i think) and loads of other parts to do with the front end of the car suspension.

Got to a point where they kept telling us it was sorted, get car back and it still did it.

VW were getting very miffed now and had been on vw in germany to try and help but still no joy, we were offered money back but to me that seemed like an easy way out for them so told them we wanted it sorting or to find us another car of same spec, which they did ( year newer with half the milage)

Anyway got the new one at end or October and everything fine until a little while ago, IT STARTED CLUNKING !!!!!!!     took it into a different vw garage as was still under manufactures warranty and had suspension bushes replaced, seemed ok but when i drive it the car seem now to give quite alot or road noise???(hard to explain) so took it back again and mechanic took it out with me and said yeah maybe wheel bearing is going or could be the tyres??????????????

So i booked in for next saturday. Seeing as its my partners car and she drives it alot more than me, she came home today and said she thinks it was clunking again?!?!?!?!?!?

So to me there is something not right with theses cars!

You'd think they'd sort it out... or at least know what the problem was!!

At the moment I'm dealing with the Service Manager to get to the bottom of this, but im having to go there every week!! And its not fair paying however much to have a Volkswagen and hardly ever having it!!

Does make me wonder why did I bother buying a Polo? Why didn't I decide to get something better built!

Wouldn't be so bothered if they gave me an R32 Golf whilst my car was in.... but thats not going to happen, is it? Otherwise I would be taking it there all the time!! But no, they give me a car that hasn't got half the spec or power of mine!!

   <-- that all I can say about Volkswagen
