Mounting bracket offside. Am I right in thinking these are no longer available. Does anyone have one that I can have/buy. I also heard that you can modify one from a Mk2, is this correct

Part no. 867 505 207, the same on Mk1's and Mk2's.

If it is obsolete, ask your VW dealer to do a check to see if any other UK dealers have one in stock. A quick phone call with a credit card number does the trick  as I know from my Mk1!

Alternatively try http://www.vw-classic.net/ quoting the part number. These guys have access to stock throughout all German dealers and VW stock...

Got a fast reply from them. €55.24 I think this includes postage as well,

breakdown is : Lagerbock €39
Versandkosten €8.62

Netobetrag €47.62
zzgl. MwSt (16%) €7.62

Endbetrag €55.24

Am I right about the postage? (b*******s, just read your PM, I really should pay attention) sorry

I have asked them how I can pay with credit card, but am asking you to make doubly sure I don't f**k it up. I can do that sometimes, especially when dealing in foreign languages.

Your help is much appreciated.

Versandkosten is your P+P cost, and the 16% charge is the equivalent of VAT in the UK.

They do take credit cards...reply to the e.mail and copy and paste below:

Danke für Ihre schnelle Antwort. Können Sie dieses zu meiner Kreditkarte bitte berechnen:

Kartennummer: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Karten Verfallsdatum: XX/XX

Viel dank!

Obviously, replace the X's with your card number and expiry date

Thank you once again. What a great place ,they do all the donkey work, all we have to do is pay!!

Once again, many, many thaks for all your help. I do have more pics to put up, but mainly the cleaning up process rather than any of the cutting and welding. Hopefully this next time home will see me getting amongst it. I ran out of time for putting the pix in the host, so nothing available for viewing at the moment. Give me a couple of weeks and the repairs should be complete and ready for the first coat of primer. I aim to have her back on the road in May (I think) weather dependant of course. It's been so bloody cold in Scotland, it really saps the will to work doesn't it.
Note to self:- Must get some heating in the garage soon.
