Gti BBS alloy help needed!!!!

I was taking the centres out of my wheel today to get them refurbed.

I got down to the very last nut round the rims. and guess what the teeth on the nut shredded.

Any one have any ideas how to get the bloody thing out .

Or can anyone help me with a new wheel or a price for one

Right.

First things first, unless you are going to manage to find someone with a single BBS RXII for sale on eBay, buying a new one is going to be stupidly expensive.

In my opinion, your best option is finding some kind of local engineering firm who could drill the bolt out for you. This isn't easy, as the genuine BBS bolts are made of titanium. However I would reckon that asking them to drill it out would still be far cheaper than a whole new wheel.

Then you're going to need a replacement bolt. Contact http://www.justmatz.co.uk and they should be aplly to supply you one for about Â£1.20

Single BBS RX2s pop up on eBay every now and again but usually sell for big money, for more than they are worth (IMO). I was toying with the idea of buying one if it was cheap enough, and refurbing one wheel at a time. Would look very strange though whilst the work was in progress, some good wheels, some bad!

Best bet is to get it drilled out like Redline says, top advice

My only question would be, if they drill it out how are you doing to replace the nut with the same sized nut? do they dill into the nut and then get a device in to unscrew it? or do they just re-thread the hole?

i have just finished refurbing my wheels this weekend and the same happened to me, i took it to a local engineering company and got the rim heated up using oxy/acetelyene torch, it didn't even take 200 degrees to get em out.

I havent bothered buying new bolts because it was only one on one wheel, and with all the others torqued down to 20Nm the rounded out bolt wiil be ok if it is nipped as tight as the teeth will allow.

As for the question, they would probably use stud extractors to get it out, they are quite tight because of the threadlock!! but when you put 'em back in, make sure you seal the face where the centre sits on the wheel and put threadlock on all the bolts!
