Sorry to hear that you're getting rid of the white Polo GC, though I must admit, I've always liked the look of Scirocco's - Some of them remind me of the Delorean from Back to the Future and I'm sure that you can buy full size kits that make them look even more like a Delorean - All you need then is the flux capacitor and you're away in time!!

Ah well mate, hope you keep on checking out this forum as you've been an inspiration.

I need to get new photo's of my Polo posted - Have put black smoked window tint on the back and rear windows and swapped the black windscreen washer jets for those blue light things. Despite being an old car it is lookin' kinda cool.

Just posting all the stuff from the polo that I'm clearing out of the shed in the for sale section. Take a look through that, then I'll think about taking bits of the car later.. really don't want to have to break my car though, it would make me sad :(

If only I had somewhere to do it, I'd just whack a new engine in it and sell it on.. but I just don't have the space here. Sadly if no one takes it it's going to have to be broken..
I would happily give it free to a good home..

for the love of christ, at least try ebaying it!
put a reserve on for the scrap value and see what happens. even if it goes to a total bastard, at least they'll get a couple thousand more miles out of it.... or, you might find someone nabs a tidy-looking example like that as a fixer-upper

what you think the problem is? just the head gasket or something (again.. :( )?

It's alright, I have two people 'definately' interested on club polo, should be arranging collection with one of them soon. Both of them want to fix it up rather than break it, so that's cool.
I think it's worn piston rings, I never actually changed them when I had the engine out, just got frustrated with the whole business and whacked a 'new' (read 120,000 mile..) engine in there, so it's probably just worn out.

Nah, don't worry, I'd already tried and failed with the piston rings by that point.. think I was sold oversize rings or something as the block just siezed up when I fitted them. If you could send the compressor back though that'd be great, I'm at home at the moment. Can't see myself needing it for the scirocco for a while.. I'm still trying to get my head around the mass of pipes and cables that is the DX (GTi) engine, it's quite a step up from the nice simple polo engine!

Looks a bit daunting doesn't it! Think I'll get it steam cleaned and then see if I can work out what's what under there..

Yeah, it's sorted now... turned out to be that the brand new lift pump that GSF sold me was every bit as broken as the one it replaced.. no wonder it stumped me. Even my mechanic only worked it out after 4 afternoons work on it.. thankfully he's a nice guy so didn't charge me all his time  Anyway, tis running like a charm now, very smooth. Just need to get the steering geometry looked at and it'll be perfect ;)

That sirroco engine bay is one of the wierdest i have ever seen, the engine looks so small can just see a mass of wires!

Hope you get the Polo off to a good home

Yeah, it's a very strange setup - it's actually a much bigger engine block than in the polo, but it's set way back in the bay and it's mounted at an angle. I think it'll look quite a bit better with a tidy up, and I need to do something about untangling / rerouting some of the pipes and cables, but it's never going to be quite as tidy as the polo..
