feckin gearbox gone.

GTI's been more hassle than i thought it would be. gonna get it fixed and sell the bloody thing. had enough!

in 11 months of ownership:

Pedal box
2 sets front discs and pads.
clutch
two front bearing and wheel hubs- BOTH on the driver side
CV joint
gearbox
plus all service bits etc.

stupid things cost me a frickin fortune. Straw thats snapped the camels back now- gonna get it repaired then its up for sale. enough is enough.

EDIT: im seriously going to sell it so might as well be honest and plug it all here.

The above is everything that i have had done since i bought it last year. Also have stacks and stacks of service history. spec is as follows:

-All standard GTI stuff (xenons, PAS, leccy windows and mirrors etc)
-Leather interior
-electronic climate control

mods:
-longlife stainless steel exhaust
-K&N induction kit
-tinted windows all round (legal ones!)
-clifford concept 350 G4 alarm with full closure and spare keyfob
-infinity reference components front and back
-debadged rear
-Kamei Debadged front grill and smoothed bonnet to match
-powdercoated BBS originals
-B&M shortshifter
-Alpine IVA-D310RB in dash motorised flipscreen head unit (This will be at an extra rate of £750 if you want it- other wise standard VW Gamma head unit)

-has a FULL YEARS M.O.T. Was only done 12 days ago
-Tax till August (or could be october- cant remember off top of my head and its at the garage now so i cant check!)
-Full VWSH till 56K and no expense spared in taking care of it after that (as you can tell above!) current milage just under 74K
-has had a full Fuchs renoclean wash and wax every two-three weeks without fail so paintwork looks pretty nice :)

Looking at about £4500

Seems like luck of the draw really, a few people have had loads of problems whereas a lot of us haven't really had any.

When you go to get it repaired mate dont agree to pay any more than £450 at the very most!

Source yourself a decent box for 250 and someone will always fit it for 200

I got fooked first time round with mine, and they bodged it

I'm doing the same mate, had the car about 2 and 1/2 years and have a list over twice as long as yours above, its fcking ridiculous. Without these problems though the car is great which is why i'm trading it in for a lupo gti, the same engine as the polo but alot more fun and quicker without alllll these problems (really!)
Hope you can get a decent price for it in the end mate

Unfortunately I think you'll find that they will end up happening, sooner or later :(

Good luck in finding a box with low miles for a good price. (There was one on e bay @£150 last night) check it could still be there. :)

When my one went not long ago taking clutch with it :( (couldn't get no gear without ramming it in, i called round a heap of places and found a few but they couldn't the guarantee mileage on it :( :(

So i gave the second hand route a miss, i settled for going to my local vw specialist who sourced me a reconditiuoned one. :D

Only down side i think i got slightly ripped off it was 600 notes :( :(

But i just paid it as i needed it done and had piece of mind with a years warranty :D

It may be an idea to replace your clutch when box is off (dependant on the condition of one you've got)

Just don't go to Veedub as i tried them and got a price of about 1300 quid :( :( And they couldn't guarantee one would be in stock
