Stripped

Post by olop_chris »

I'm all for trying to make my GTi as light as possible to gain in the power:weight ratio.

What are your opinions on if i stripped the back seats out etc? would you feel it would look s**t? good? not bad? or just plain not worth doing at all...

my mate in his 106 GTi has his back stripped out and looks fairly good, but mind you they dont have the spare wheel well sitting there...hmm :?

could you not strip it out but then carpet the back so as to hide the spare wheel? my mate did that to his punto and it looked all right, also helped to block out the noise from his exhaust

You could chuck the front seats out too....

replace them with some bike seats

What you done so far doesnt look too bad...I thought it would look a mess.

Why is it you want to stripp it? Or is it obvious lol

 ill give the bike seats a miss i think.

i dont think im going to strip anything else, the door cards weigh nothing and neither do the carpets so they can stay.

i stripped it to make it abit lighter (im aware its nothing major!) its a start...next is BMC

i was pretty concerned it would look a huge mess aswell, doesnt look too bad IMO!

It is a start and if i was you i would get rid of the spar space saver wheels and replace it with a can of tyre weld.

I think polos look wikd with the rare seats taken out and carpeted and an aluminium roll cage put in the back. (even if it is a show cage)

Not ideal for weight saving but looks good.

The front passenger seat weighs two or three times as much as the rear seats. There mainly just foam, You'd probably loose more weight by taking a dump before you go for a drive. I realised this as I was putting mine back in after the pod.

The spare whell has a fair bit of weight too it, and the tool kit also.
