PASSED MOT, THEN DISASTER

Post by GTI NUT »

Thought I would put up a thread as I was over the moon, took my gti into VW dealer for mot on monday, I knew needed side light bulb replacing, they managed to do it without removing bumper, all else was a rear wiper hose and can of flush for engine, my wee baby passed with flying colours, I was really pleased :)

Til last night, heading home from gym awful scraping metal sound, first thought maybe something to do with brakes, but they are fine plenty meat, appears to be coming from the drivers side and can hear it outside the car, certainly something touching that shouldnt be, went back to garage today but they have no idea what could be wrong, so its back to the garage with my car, any ideas folks?? Have had no oil leaks or anything and cv joint appears cool.

I got this. It seems to be my rear driver's side disc touching against something. Does this seem to be the same problem? I know its this because I had the car on the ramp a couple of weeks ago. I spun both rear wheels and the rear driver's side was the one that was making the sound. It didn't spin freely. So it may have something to do with the rear wheel.

My rear brakes used to make loads of noise when I first got the car, had new calipers fitted under warranty as VW said they were seizing, but the noise remained, so changed discs and pads and the rear pads were worn really unevenly, with the new ones fitted the noise disappeared and has been fine since.

My rear brake pads collapsed and jammed the rear brakes on. Luckily this happened while sitting in my driveway, however it did mean that i couldn't get car out my drive and had to contact VW Assist.

THANKS everyone brought her out the garage today and there was a small clunk noise then everything appears to be ok, possibly stone or something stuck in at disc as we have stones at side driveway!! You wouldnt believe the noise it was making, always a worry when you hear something. fngerscrossed :D
