Hi guys and girls

I've just been driving my GTI and the EPC light has just come on and won't go off!!!

Does anybody have a clue as to what the problem could be??

EPC is engine management. This could be a bunch of things, It can go off for a variety of reasons. The ECU will have a fault code and the way to get to see what the fault code is, is to go to vw dealership or plug your car into a laptop with a special cable and vag-com software.

My advice is take it to the dealers, they usually charge just to plug it in cause they are robbing gits.

Mine came on, was nothing todo with the engine management, was just the cooling fan. I would take it to a local garage if i was you. VW couldnt work out mine and still charged me £72.

Find an independent Volkswagen service place that can do diagnostics. Be cheaper than a main dealer.

Check your brakelights are working before going anywhere and paying for them to check.

My EPC light came on when my brake light switch went, meaning i had no brake lights

You could buy vagcom yourself for less than what the dealer would charge to check the faults just have a look on ebay or www.ross-tech.com. Its takes all of 30 seconds to find out what fault codes are causing the light to stay on its amazing what dealers charge to check this.
