Eibach Springs

I want to lower my car by about 50mm, been looking at Eibach Sportline springs.

Are these springs the right ones to get .
Will they damage to dampers, as i have heard a few comments that suggests the original dampers won't last long, after changing the springs

Anyone lowered their car using springs only
Any advice would be helpful

Before i forget, which would be the best company to get some springs from

also want to get my standard bbs refurbed / poss get the centres powdercoated black, with a polished rim?

anyone got any pics of a black gti with these wheels ?

In a weeks time i will be selling my 50mm sportline springs....

Been on for about 4/5 months now, appear in very good condition.

No probs so far on standard dampers, just feels the same but more firmer in corners.

Pm me if interested....or if you want new ones try venom, about £135 inc vat & delivery i think, or you can have mine for £75?

My car has been on PhillGTi's old Eibach springs for 3 weeks now.

Looks a hell of a lot better (as it should have been from the factory) and much less body roll. The ride is firmer at low speeds, but this isn't helped by me being on low profile 16's.

Redline, did you fit your springs or get someone else too

A mechanic mate of mine and myself did them.

Relatively straight forward if you have some decent spring compressors. Biggest problem was the covers over the front top mounts.

Main thing to remember is to get the camber checked and sorted afterwards.

i still have mine on eibach sportline springs and original dampers > had them on now since the summer 2005

I think that the Eibachs will only be a problem with dampers that have covered a high mileage and aren't in good nick. Eibachs are something I've considering for mine too. I want coilovers, but they cost a lot, so the Eibachs are a good solution in the meantime. Bit scary actually, we're gonna have three black GTis running around on Eibachas and black BBS

Redline, one other question: have you had your headlights re-adjusted to compensate for the lowering?

im paying off quite alot of debt at the mo but ive worked out if all goes to plan i should have some coilies on mine in the new year sounds like its miles away but i bet it'll creep up fast again

Cost me £47 for all 4 wheel alignment. They're not bad, I'd just avoid first thing on a Saturday morning as they're a bit slow with being hungover!

Eibachs will be excellent mate. Superb ride quality and ride height is perfect in my opinion.

I changed my springs and shocks at the same time just to be on the safe side.

P.s you won't need spring compressors.

How do you lads find clearance on the Eibachs?

I drive over a couple of horrendous stretches of road on the way to work/college daily and I'd be constantly in fear of clouting the sump off the tarmac if I went too low.
