I've been offered an original MK1 Golf GTI 1979 Steering Wheel for £40, its certainly nicer than my standard one and would be a straight fit..

what u reckon?

is it the 3 spoke one with the wolfsburg horn push in the centre?

no its just 3 spoke with a standard VW sign in the middle

...

I've also just found a guy on ebay whos breaking an MK1 1981 :D same as mine..

Going to try get the bonnet lifter, chrome trims off the whole car, rear bumper, aerial..

has the steering wheel got 4 little round button things in the middle that are the horns...?

they were fitted to the polo LX (A short run model from around 1984) I get the feeling that its very possible to fit one of those in a late mk1 such as yours, its earlies that have trouble.
