Interior Light

Post by jazzypolo »

I used to have a Mk2 Golf and remember that when you shut the door the interior light stayed on for maybe 5 secs.

As it's getting dark earlier it would be really good to have this on the Polo. Makes it loads easier to get the key in the lock, also stops you scatching the paintwork.

Anyone got any ideas ?

Cheers

Now, I'm no electrician... But I think you could wire up a capacitator to store some power, after the regular feed has stopped. 'Conrad' (electronics shop) sells kits for just this purpose (pretty easy to fit too probably) but I bet there's a similar store in the UK that can offer the same item. Or at least help you out a bit.

Hope that helps.

Nope.

:(

You'll need to mod it like any other light I guess - there should be enough room there to hide the cap.

Hi Geezer,

The Passat W8 light has two red leds that emit a red glow over the interior, so even at night, the interior is very slightly (but noticeably) lit. Pretty cool. It also has two map reading lights, whereas the Mk4 has none. Furthermore, there's a place to hide a handsfree car phone mic...

Read this PDF to find out more:

Hmm. Odd. Does the text in that PDF file show up properly? And the pics are missing? Would really like to know...

Check this link too:

http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... c.php?t=97

For as long as it's there -

Expect about 30 pounds for the parts. Original parts can have tremendous price increases in short periods of time, so check with your supplier (I suggest checking out the VAG Parts forum section ;) ) before ordering.

Click this link to view a pic of mine installed (lights are off):

Click me.

If the lights are on, the leds will emit a subtle red light...
