if your gti in question went through 2 boxes id hazzard a guess there was something else wrong with it... gearboxes dont blow up with less than a 1000 miles on... granted there are occasions, but for your car to eat 2 boxes sounds like there were other faults... any accidents recorded... all it would take would be something slightly out of line to put extra stress on components..
either that or you need to learn how to use a clutch
hows the pooma, does it match your new highlights and sleevless teeshirt?

In response to your second question the Puma is excellent and is a much more accomplished vehicle than the GTI, its handling is also superior to the Polo GTI, the only downside is that the GTI has 2 BHP more than the Puma.

How can you say the puma is a much more accomplished car than the GTI when you only owned it for 2 weeks, and it sounds like you've only just bought a puma so I don't think your in any position to start saying which is more accomplished. If you’ve bought the puma simply because it handles well then you need to see a doctor. Come back in 12 months when your puma's fallen apart and the paint's faded then we'll see which is the more accomplished car.samuel090180 wrote:In response to your second question the Puma is excellent and is a much more accomplished vehicle than the GTI, its handling is also superior to the Polo GTI, the only downside is that the GTI has 2 BHP more than the Puma.M6TT F wrote:if your gti in question went through 2 boxes id hazzard a guess there was something else wrong with it... gearboxes dont blow up with less than a 1000 miles on... granted there are occasions, but for your car to eat 2 boxes sounds like there were other faults... any accidents recorded... all it would take would be something slightly out of line to put extra stress on components..

It is my opinion, and I am entitled to express it.................also mettallic paint does not fade, and Puma's are built as well as Polo GTI's.damci wrote:How can you say the puma is a much more accomplished car than the GTI when you only owned it for 2 weeks, and it sounds like you've only just bought a puma so I don't think your in any position to start saying which is more accomplished. To compare the reliabilty of both Fords and VW's, please feel free to visit the following site >>>>> http://www.peachorlemon.com
I never said you weren't entitled to your opinion, you just talk a lot of crap that's all.samuel090180 wrote:It is my opinion, and I am entitled to express it.................also mettallic paint does not fade, and Puma's are built as well as Polo GTI's.damci wrote:How can you say the puma is a much more accomplished car than the GTI when you only owned it for 2 weeks, and it sounds like you've only just bought a puma so I don't think your in any position to start saying which is more accomplished. It's a ford so of course the paint will fade, it will also rust, flake, ding, and stone chip very easily so don't lean against it too hard. Your just bitter that you bought a lemon, quite sad really

Problem with sites like that, is the fact the sample group is quite obviously biased in one way.samuel090180 wrote:To compare the reliabilty of both Fords and VW's, please feel free to visit the following site >>>>> http://www.peachorlemon.com
They're usually perpetuated by people who have had a bad experience and therefore have some kind of axe to grind. When someone has a reliable, faultless car they tend not to make such a big deal out of it.
Majority of the posts on such sites are made because someone has had a problem, lost money and thus thrown their toys out of the pram.

Your statement is incorrect....because people who visit the site are given the opportunity to rate their cars as either 'PEACHES' or 'LEMONS' and the majority of the vehicles on this site have been given good reviews. But a lot of modern VW's have been classed as 'LEMONS' on this site.Redline wrote:Problem with sites like that, is the fact the sample group is quite obviously biased in one way.samuel090180 wrote:To compare the reliabilty of both Fords and VW's, please feel free to visit the following site >>>>> http://www.peachorlemon.com

Sites like this are a good idea because they give consumers the ability to see how good a car really is.
Samuel - maybe in hindsight it would have been a good idea to use you're extensive knowledge of cars before you bought you Polo Gti, and researched webistes such as this?
You're perfectly entitled to you're opinion, and I can understand your frustrations, from the apparant problems that you have had. But to try and convince people on a Polo Gti's owners club that a Ford Puma is better, is a battle that, in my opinion you're never going to win.
I'd probably agree with the handling aspect, as it has the same chassis as the Fiesta Zetec S, but unless you go for the Racing Puma, i think it's a lesser quality of car, and a bit too girly for my liking i'm afraid.[/quote]

9 pages and he's still at it , fair play at least you're persistent. But most people are happy with their cars on here, despite several people experiencing similar problems to yourself.
s**t happens, you may be lucky with your poo-ma, or unlucky and have a lot of problems with that too, not even counting the ridicule for driving a burds motor
and constant unwanted attention from the pinkpound brigade
I had a poo-ma for a weeked and it did drive nicely, but it's a Ford, and they just dont do it for me - too Essex innit!
