I have clearly won this arguement due to the fact that I have conducted myself in an Eloquent manner and I have not 'reverted' to childish 'name calling'.....I am therefore going to 'sit' back and 'view' your comments...........lol
Hahahahaha!!!!
Yeah right and then your mummy came in and told it's ok it was just a bad dream.
.
Going to be honest here...
A Puma, A Ford Puma, yeah thats better than a Polo and VW. Made from left over tin foil from a kids packet lunch, and the plastics are of simliar quality to those a kinder egg toy are made of.
TBH the porblems you had were basically your fault for not researching about common faults with the car before you bought it. Most people would maybe join a fourm and put a up a post where people are more than happy to point things out. That way when you go to look at a car you can check to see what work should have been done or what will need done or if its been back under recall. Buying an off the shelf magazine will never go into any detail worth while.
Think you just bought a $hitter mate as judging by the reaction you got nobody else on here seems to have had such a knee jerk reaction to buying the car and having some problems with it.

Classic thread this eh! Must join in...
Couple of storming comments from Matt - shoot from the hip don't you mate - and you're bang on as well. If I went on another forum and posted similar I would expect the same reaction - what else would you expect -are all GTi owners expected to sit back and go 'ahh good point - I must sell mine'! The boy is just a wind up merchant.
Anyway, before the gti I had a fiesta 1.4 ghia X (which I'm afraid to tell you is the same car as your puma) - it was nippy and with good steering - but it leaked into the footwells, and the fake wood dash peeled off like tin foil.
The new fords like the new focus and mondeo are decent cars but they aren't comparable to the puma's and fiesta's of that time.
Remember how fred flinstone used to power his car? - That's you that is.

What have i missed here!!
I Think some people need to respect that this section is for mainly GTi owners and coming into this room to dis a very nice little car (which may have faults, plus vw aint all roses) is a fcukin p*** take to be honest!
I bought my GTi for 10k 3+ years ago i've had more things happen to it than most but still cant fault it, I find it hard to believe that sam or what ever his name is gives up at the first hurdle on the car!
Then buys a puma and says its a better car! LOL
Look at the plastic dash (fiesta s**t) the boggy radio from an escort van, the s**t dials, its stuck together with chewing gum and prit stick need i turn my attention to the rest of the car? I think not!
Sorry to say but i hate fords and that is my opinion!

Sorry lads…..I said that I would not add any more comments to this thread but, I have to now go back on my word, as your comments are hilarious.
Firstly the VW Polo Gti, is not a ‘mans’ car, it is in fact a woman’s car, it was initially designed for ‘town’ driving/shopping, and its initial design purpose has not changed.
Secondly If I had actually heard of this ‘site’ before I purchased my Polo Gti, I wouldn’t have wasted my time or money on such a car, due to the numerous reliability issues which I personally experienced and issues which I have read about.
Thirdly ‘you’ people need to understand that the VW Polo Gti, is a car which has serious design faults, such as the Pedal box, the Gearbox, and the Clutch.
I would like to add that the Pedal Box may have been ‘fixed’ by VW under the ‘Recall’ but all VW have done is ‘fit a new pedal box’ they haven’t actually cured the underlying problem, which means that the Pedal box will break again in future.
Finally I would like to say that the Ford Puma is a Superior vehicle to the Polo Gti in every way, fans of ‘Top gear’ on bbc2 may have heard that Jeremy Clarkson classes it as one of his all time favourite vehicles to drive.
You people need to realise that the ‘truth’ about the reliability issues with the Polo Gti, are beginning to ‘spread’ and once the truth is in the public domain, people will stop purchasing them, and the value of your cars will plummet, if I were you I would ‘sell up’ as soon as possible.

Firstly, I'd like to point out that the UK-P forums are an invaluable resource for a great many Polo owners, not just to swap info about each others cars and mods but also to discuss the things that go wrong with them, such as the pedal box, toothed belts etc. Surely you must accept that the Polo is not alone in suffering repeated problems with certain components - take for example the Peugout 206 and the fact that a whole bunch of them were prone to cutting out mid-drive. The VAG 1.8T suffers problems with the coil packs. Ford recalled 600,000 Focus vehicles due to a fault that could cause a serious fire, so don't even think about coming over all high and mighty with the "Ford is better than VW" shit!samuel090180 wrote:Secondly If I had actually heard of this ‘site’ before I purchased my Polo Gti, I wouldn’t have wasted my time or money on such a car, due to the numerous reliability issues which I personally experienced and issues which I have read about.
Alright, yes. The Ford Puma has one area where it excels over the Polo. It handles well. But thats all. My parents switched from owning Ford to VW cars in 1999 after buying Fords all their car-owning lives, because they believed that the VW build quality and reliability was superior to that of the Ford Motor Company. Guess what Sammy? They were right!samuel090180 wrote:Finally I would like to say that the Ford Puma is a Superior vehicle to the Polo Gti in every way, fans of ‘Top gear’ on bbc2 may have heard that Jeremy Clarkson classes it as one of his all time favourite vehicles to drive.

I 'think' that what 'you' need to 'do', Sammy, is 'cut your losses' and stop making things 'worse' for 'yourself' by carrying on 'posting' in this thread. Let it go. You are never going to bring a forum of Polo owners around to selling their VWs and buying poorly built Ford tat on the (admittedly quite weak) strength of one argument. You seem to be failing to understand that not every Polo GTi has a catalogue of mechanical failures waiting to happen. You were simply very unfortunate, for whatever reasons, to purchase a poor example of the car which tarnished your view of the brand. Carrying on like this in front of a bunch of guys and gals who love their Polos as much as I do mine is just getting tired. You are just going over the same old ground time and time again whilst the rest of us just sit here giggling
Just one other thing. Why do you keep putting apostrophies around half of your words?
