Change GTi seats

Post by brassic_lint »

Hi there, my other half is looking for a new car and I have persuaded her to get a Polo GTi. The only thing holding her back is the interior! She hates the standard seats with the red arrow "1" design on them. Can any other seats be put in e.g. Golf MKIV?

Thanks in advance.

What about looking for a GTi with leather upholstery? 8)

As far as I know, seats from a Golf mk3 will fit, also one of our members squeezed a pair of Audi TT front seats into his Polo GTi

Yer, looked for one with leather, and autotrader only shows 2 in the whole UK, on 182 miles away, the other 44miles but listed as "half leather". I take this to mean they are quite rare!

Also would be upset because I want leather for my Golf GTi, but can't justify the cost!!

Do Golf Mk3 rears fit too? I don't want different front & rear!

I thought the standard seat design displayed an 'i' as in GTi? :?

I also quite fancied leather when I was looking (well to be honest, who wouldn't want one?!) but as said, they're very rare...

What about budgeting for a leather re-trim? I can highly recommend an compamy in York, who would do a full retrim, to your colour spec inc door cards for around £800. I have examples of their work if you're interested?

It's a 1 on the seats.

The GTi didn't come with half leather, it was either leather or cloth.

Oh and Si, if you mean Phil I don't think he fitted them in the end, I may be wrong though.

I'm not so sure. What would be the significance of 1?

Whereas an 'I' would make sense. If you look there's the main block, then a gap and the dot of the I. At first, I thought it was a 1 as well, but then two different people have said it looks like an 'I'. I can see it now.

Makes more sense to me...

No, it's deffinately a 1, it's inside a red square.

The only dot I can think of is the black square above it, which goes right down the seat.

I'll have to take a pic, and explain what I mean :D

I still want to know what the significance of a 1 is, if that's what it is

TBH I always assumed it was a 1, however I can see the logic of it looking like an i in the original Golf GTi font...

That "dot" above doesn't seem to match though

Not sure though...

Good, a picture. What I mean is, if you can imagine the supposed 1 without the red border round it (which makes it harder to see). Then you have the small darker grey square above it - which makes the dot of the 'i'.

My reasoning being that it's the 'i' of 'GTi', which made more sense than having a '1'.
