POLO GTI INDUCTION KIT AND CHARCOAL CANISTER

Post by RICHARD HARPER »

Hi there folks,
Does anyone have any ideas where i can relocate my charcoal canister so i can get a decent air feed for my carbon airbox ?

Was planning on using left fog light as an airfeed the same idea as the passengers foglight thats used to cool engine/gearbox by drilling a few holes in plastic grill. :)

But i'm stuck as where to relocate canister as the Gti's engines bays tight for space :( :(

Was gonna use airfeed from passenger fog light but would use to much ducting pipe and look silly going down left of engine and along front of it too.

Tried to go down right of engine from throttle body but airbox is too big :(

Help or ideas would be good.

Cheers Guys :)

Sorry for being dense but what is a "Charcoal Canister"?

I have my airfeed coming from behind the middle grill (VW badge one) on the drivers side. I removed the grill then drilled through the plastic to create a decent sized hole. I think this is the best option. Will try and get some pics up tomoz for you!

I extended the hoses to the canister and made a bracket to locate it above the gearbox at the back, its therefore unseen and keeps the bay tidy. The ducting then goes to the foglight aperture.

Pretty much. I work at partco so just looked for a hose of the same diameter.

*UPDATE*

Went looking for a new air feed again @weekend to experiment, looked down left right behind grill with no sucess :(

So Managed to drill out a wee bit behind my grill on the right of the radiator with a big spade bit, and took a feed off that for the now :)

I dont think its noticable with grill on :)
May have to change it though as i dont think the air flow is that great :(
I also took GTI badge off as that was right on front of air feed, and its growing on me a bit being off :)

Post by RICHARD HARPER »

Finally decided how to set up Induction Kit guys :D

Went to local scrappy and managed to find a bit of plastic ducting pipe off a Mark 2 Golf for a feed.
And i just ended up using Original air feed in wing :) (Still has a nice note when you floor it too) :)

Got pulled because of the spacing, so I had to change it. The one I've got now is still the same width, just a little deeper and sitting on my dashboard

Here's a couple of recent pics

It's the Nurburgring mate, a stupidly long and dangerous track in Germany.

You usually get the sticker after doing a lap but I cheated and bought one off e-bay, I do want to go round it though.
