Poorly Polo GTi..........help please!

Post by M@Turner »

On my way home from work today i called into the hospital to see my grandma. However just before i pulled into the car park, i hit quite a big pot hole. Didn't think anything of it and parked up.

However on my way home i noticed that the engine check light had come on and realised that my car had no performance what so ever and was not sounding healthy at all.

When i popped the bonnet, i noticed 3 of my HT leads had popped up and gathered that they weren't connected properly to the spark plugs so shoved them back down but still the problem is there.

Anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong. I am gonna pop into the garage in the morning but if you could let me know of some suggestions that i could pass on, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Mat

Well, i now know what the problem is! :D

My car is suffering from cylinder 3 miss firing. Mechanic explained everything to me and the possible causes of the problem and the solutions! Popping my car back down on Friday to have a new HT lead and spark plug fitted.

Whilst he was there, he also diagnosed the ticking noise i'd posted up about! Turns out the Air Flow flap motor needs replacing and flap is seized.

Well, if any of you guys get a similar problem hopefully this will help you guys out!

Cheers, Mat

Could be wrong, (usually am) but i don't think that's what he means. I'm sure he's talking about the flap which controls whether the air from the vents is on recirculation or fresh air from outside.
