Suspension bushes question

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

Ever since ive lowered my car, ive started to hear the creaking noise from my passenger front suspension more.

It is more amplified, due to the more stiffer suspension.

Ive been told the ARB bushes, or drop-links? which is a common problem that some of you guys here have suffered. Has anyone changed these before by themselves? how easy is this? i would take it to VW but i expect them going to use the excuse that my modified suspension led to it.

My VW specialist garage took about an hour to fit new ARB bushes to mine so shouldn't be a big job.

I heard something about fitting longer drop-links to stop the ARB hitting underneath the car don't know which one's though :?

Did it make any difference to the noise to yours mate? im thinking of upgrading to the powerflex ones (they're about 30quid), rather going for oem replacements. But i remember (think it was you  ) saying their a waste of money

No it's made no difference apart from making the suspension a bit stiffer! It still squeeks, bangs, and knocks intermittently over any type of road surface :x

Is yours still under warranty? Your best bet is to get it checked out I'm pretty sure the problem relates to the drop-links

My VW warranty has just ran out. Ive heard they'll still sort it regardless. But still being modified, i doubt they'll touch it.

But i also have third party warranty where i nominate the garage. According to the terms theirs no exclusion clause on modified vehicles so i guess i can had it looked at through here.

Thanks mate. 8)

As I had to change a wheel over, i decided to look at the bushes. I checked the ARB / end links and the one at the front of the wishbone.

the others look fine but the one on the front of the front wishbone - i couldnt tell whether it looks worn out or not, what do you guys think??? does it look like it needs to be replaced? both pics of same bush
