Do VW do an official "Lowering Kit" for the Polo?

Im interested in lowering my polo after I fit my 16" alloys and I was just wondering if you guys knew if Volkswagen themselves sell and fit a Lowering Kit for the Polo (9n 2005).

It said on the official site that they do it for the Lupo but I cant find anything about it for the polo.

(Im reluctant to to buy unofficial lowering kits from the net and get it fitted by someone else incase anything goes wrong or something)

I don't think they do. What model Polo have you got? The sport models come with a factory fitted sports suspension kit which is slightly lower than a non-sport model

Its a 1.2 Polo 9n I've got.

I could go for unofficial lowering kits (if VW dont do one) but I dont really know which one to go for. Im running on 16" alloys (195/45/16 tyres) just now, so how much of a drop should I go for to still give me good ride comfort but look good?

I think the sport suspension option lowers the polo by about 15mm, but it does seem to handle better than the standard suspension. You could go for uprated shocks and lowered springs from someone like eibach that would probably lower it by about 30mm..

Im actually due to recieve my new alloys next week but im sure the tyre size is fine. It was done through performancealloys.com and the guy on the phone said either 195/45 or 205/45 would be fine (I mentioned to him about the VW tyres being 205/45). Also, 195/45 was cheaper.

But going back to the suspension, im just not sure wether to go for lowering the car by 30mm or not. I dont want the ride comfort to be comprimised or anything like that....

Fitting larger alloys and lowered suspension will compromise the ride comfort due to lower profile tyres and the suspension will be a lot stiffer. You could fit coilovers but there a lot more £££ but I have found the ride quality isn't as compromised with these

I'd look for the relevant Eibach Pro-Kit for your model. I had this fitted to my Fabia vRS (same chassis platform to the 9N) which lowered it by 25mm, but kept the ride quite compliant. The car cornered far better and it was firmer, but didn't crash along and was unduely upset by bad road surfaces.

I paid £100 ish for the kit IIRC, but yours will be a different model as it won't have to support a big diesel lump at the front, so may be less

I see you're in Glasgow too - I'm sure there was a competitive supplier round there for Eibach stuff. If I can find more info out, I'll post back.

And we'll be able to find you a competant garage around Glasgow if you're worried about fitting. It's not the most difficult task to fit the springs, about 30 mins per corner I would say.
