Guide price for my car?

Post by JKM_GTI »

I am putting way too many miles on the car, and could really do with a diesel for mpg reasons (Not that the polo is bad, but for 400+ miles a week, I could do better).
I have checked Parkers, but the prices given in the guide are completely different to the gti’s listed on autotrader.

I have a price in mind, but would like a few people opinions first; the spec is as follows,

X – Reg 2001 Polo Gti,
47k, Reflex Silver
Usual high spec with;
Climate control
Xenon’s & headlight washers (I was told the head washers are heated, all I know is they work good in winter!)
Extra’s I have added since I got the car, just over a year ago...
Drilled & grooved black diamond discs & pads all round
Full leather interior, Inc door cards (Was fitted just this weekend)
BBS rm’s, 6.5 x 15 et33, mirror polished dishes, polished centres with chrome bolts, all have Goodyear eagle F1’s with loads of tread, 7mm on rears / 8mm on fronts..
H&R fully adjustable coilovers, currently around 70 / 80mm, still loads of thread left if you want to go lower
Full VWSH – Last serviced in May.
Colour coded front splitter.
Black B-pillar

Bodywork is very good, there in only one slight parking ding, it’s very hard to see. A few stone chips on the front, but otherwise very good.
I was told by the garage the climate control was topped up / re-gassed just before I got the car in March 05, however I have no receipt to prove this, it works very well, no funny smells etc.

Engine is completely standard and has never been modified. I am at work now, so only have a few photo’s on my comp, here they are;

Private plate will not be included, this will go on whatever car I buy next, and hopefully it will still be VAG!

Thanks,
Joe

Car looking good in those pics Joe. I would agree with hedgehogharvey, 5500 to 6000.

You should be able to get £5500 at least for that privately, the guide prices are guide prices really a car is worth how much someone is willing to pay for it and at the moment GTi seem to be going for a premimum the fact yours has leather just makes it more appealing also. If you could get the timing belt done cheaply it may be worth doing this and putting the price up to 6k as a lot of buyers are now looking for the timing belt to be done.

If you have the original alloys, I would sell the rm's seperately, as they are obviously desirable and could fetch around £500 on their own.

I think the coilovers may put some 'normal' private buyers off, but hopefully with the choice mods. you will find an enthusiast buyer.

I think £5,500 is about right for the age/mileage. The mods. added won't affect the value, unless you find an enthusiast who appreciates them.

Good luck with the sale, I think a diesel is the obvious choice doing that mileage.

mine was 5495 from garage w (2000) 44k completely standard

the mods wont add to the value - worse case scenario they could hinder the sell

good luck with it tho
