Noise from engine bay above 40MPH???

Hi folks,

Ok so today after getting stuck in traffic for an hour and a half I got onto the motorway and I heard a kinda whisteling noise comming from the engine bay?

I'm guessing it the gearbox OR the clutch I'm hopeing at the most it's the clutch.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

One more question i had a look today and there seems to be an oily substance on top of the gearbox i'm i right in guessing this shouldn't be there and that me gearbox is likely to be leaking?
