Well I was definatly giving it some, I have been beaten by a few cars off the lights that I shouldn't have. Before anyone chips in with the usual, I do know how to drive.

I'll get it taken on the rolling road as suggested.

Cheers

my best mate had a zs when i had a mk3 golf Gti cabrio. He used to beat me after 60mph in it, just because of the gear ratio's being different i think.

What you also have to take into consideration is how "true" 0-62mph figures are. Personally i think the one on the zs is on the reserved side. Have yet to test my Gti. 8)

As people have previously said...a lot of 'sleepers' out there.

I'm sure the GTi's 0-62 is actually quoted at 8.9 although timing myself I got a rough 8.47

The manual says:

0-100kmh = 8.9 (which is 0-62mph)

you got left by a zetec s?? stats say its not possible but it all comes down who is the better driver really  i mean std vs std

I took an escort rs turbo yesterday from the lights, typical chav showing off his dump valve :P although his must have been faster, off the line i picked up better and upto about 70ish (all on a private road of course) he couldnt overtake me, infact at one stage i was pulling from him

OWNED.

when all ur doing is racing at higher speeds it's pretty much entirely down to the car not the driver, unless they are really stupid and change gear at like 2000 revs or 7000 revs.

how good a driver you are only comes in to play really when you are launching

An RS turbo escort would be all over a polo gti. They are fast and very fast when they have been tweeked.
