haha, you really wanna die in your car don't you mate?

leaving spigot rings and using the wrong center bore, now cutting springs?

i wouldn't know about the lowerage with the chopping because i'd never consider or advise it myself, but surely if you are cutting it out then you just chop it till it's the right hight, kindof like a pikey version of coilovers

Chopping springs is the surefire way to end up the wrong way up in a ditch... leave it out mate

But in answer to your question, from what I have read on forums, chopping springs isnt an exact science, so you would be best taking 1/4 or 1/2 off at a time and seeing how it sits

you realise if you walk into a mot place like that they wont even take a look at it once they seen the springs? jus get some of them things that give an extra 10mm of lowereage or something...lowering caps i think....must be safer then cutting springs

Didnt read the post properly the 1st time... if you only need a couple of inches, get some lowering caps from Venom or Eurotek as mentioned above. Ive heard they can make the ride a bit choppy, but its far safer

I think you replace the existing STM's with them, but I could be wrong.
