GTI is in a bit of bother.
Driving back from my graduation yesterday round the m25 when all of a sudden I start gettin a tapping/thudding noise. Tapping getting faster & slower with the car speed. Dip the clutch & the noise changes.
Best way to describe it is as if someone is sticking a stick inbetween the spokes of my wheel. (if that makes any sense).
Very loud in 3rd, 4th & 5th, not so bad in 1st and 2nd. Engine light came on also.
I'm wondering if it's the thrush bearing rather than the clutch, coz there is no slipping or anything from the clutch.
Has anyone had this before?
I know the clutch seems to be a prob on the GTI.
I've also heard good things about the sachs clutch is it?
Any help would be appreciated
Chris

I was thinking about this, does anyone know if I'd have any joy?Prash wrote:Unlucky mateMaybe explain this p*** take to vw they might give something towards the repair ?
Because I've owned VWs since I was 17 & my dad has been a VW driver since the 1970s! Take him along with me i thought. I have loyalty with them etc.
