Door Bump Strips

Post by Hayes-polo »

Do the bump strips on the doors of polo's have guide studs that fit into holes in the door or are they just stuck on with the foam strips? I wanna remove them from my other halfs car so it looks more colour coded. If I can get away with just removing them rather than painting them I will! Don't wanna go down the filling the door road. Any one done this?

Hi

On the mkIV or 6N they are simply stuck on.
On the mkV or 6N2 they are fixed through holes in the door plus adhesive.

If you have a mkIV simply heat the strips up with a heat gun or hairdryer and slowly pull them off.
Clean up the sticky mess left on the door and then give it a good wax.

Job done !. It looks miles better :D .

When I removed mine, it left a mark in the laquer of the paint, n had to get both sides painted, which I was doing anyway so wasnt too bad.
