Polo only giving me 105 bhp, dyno results attached

Post by andyg »

Hey guys,

I mentioned in another thread how I got my ass handed to me by a fiesta zetec s, well I took it to the rollers today and its only puttin gout 105bhp.

The guy there said it could be anything, which may be true but doesn't help me much. Anyone here have an idea? Also if anyone has any graphs I can compare against I'd appreciate it, btw its running standard.

Here's mine mate. Putting out 131.7bhp standard.

The blue one is the power line.

Looking at ur graph, there doesn't seem much wrong with the power delivery. There is the usual minor flat spot, about 3400rpm, you can see that on mine as well. And the power drops off at about the same point. Your VVT looks like it kicks in more evidently than mine but that isn't a bad thing.

The guy who did the rolling road on mine did say he was impressed by how smoothly it pulled all the way to the red line.

Difficult to say what could be wrong with yours.

Is your graph power at the wheels or calculated out to estimate the flywheel power ? As mine was just under 110bhp at the wheels. Some dynos only give the power at the wheel figure. (don't have my graph any more)

If its at the fly I would change the spark plugs, leads, fuel filter and air filter. If you've had the timing belt change resently it may be worth getting the timing checked aswell. After that not sure where to go.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I assume it was power at the flywheel, but I will double check with the garage (who were useless). Double gutted after the england loss. I will take your advice about plugs etc and keep you guys posted.

Right, looked on their site, it is power at the flywheel.

It just says 8000rpm, but the graph only shows up to 6000, I think its their crappy software.

oh yeah.. sorry

I would recommend getting on a rolling road day where you have other cars to compare to. if you search the forums there are ones on all the time, even if it's a seat or skoda day they may let you on if you ask nicely.

does seem strange though.

find another gti and race it. or bring it to santapod next sunday for gti fest. if you can get it under 17 seconds on the 1/4 mile. it's fine.

Go to a different rolling road mate to see if you get the same results, before doing anything else

Richard, I dont wanna give the company name because they were not very good at all. Apart from being unhelpful, they told me it would cost £40 on the phone but when I got there they said it would be £47 cause I was paying by debit card. (I work for a bank so I know its total bs, transactions processed online through their system cost about 50p per debit card)

I think the policy of this forum is to not badmouth companies, which is why I wont post their site, however if you want to know pm me and Ill give you a link.
