town driving with some right footing thats about right, my 1.4 does that. Gets even worse if you have been doing 70mph+ because you at such high revs, or if your doing short stop/start trips.

Divide litres by 4.55 to convert to gallons
10 / 4.55 = 2.197802
Divide mileage by this
60 / 2.197802 =21.5 mpg

My 1043 would normally give about 70miles to 10litres urban and 110 on a decent run at 60mph

Ah OK not too bad then...

Nearly all my driving is stop/start semi-heavy right foot work

Although i don't think its as good as it could be, my car is running rich (Black plugs) and this mega hot weather isn't helping matters...

I need Gower & Lee to hurry up and get me some new pierburg jets in

Now in summer I'm getting 1.6 gallons on 60 miles.

Polo 1.05 with 40 PS on a 50/50 mix of town and dual carriage way with lots of roundabouts.

which ones did you use on your car mate? i used some carb cleaner on mine but didn't seem to make a massive difference really, never seen emissions cleaner :)

Carb cleaner won't really do that much, Go to:

http://www.wilco-fastfit.co.uk/wilco/ht ... ynn_s.html

Find:
Petrol Treatment at the bottom of the page (buy this)
and
Clean Burn Emissions Reducer - For Petrol Engines (buy this)

i used these two and they worked a dream..

If it says put in with a full tank.. put a FULL TANK in.. dont skimp.. then take it for a nice long motorway drive and empty it, then refill another tank and put the emissions reducer in - should make a big difference. did for me.

The way I work out mpg is dead easy

miles
litres x 4.544

means you can do it on your mobile phone without having to remember a number*

* = but not when youre on a garage forcourt - that's a big no-no. :wink:

On the run to and from bvf the derby has averaged around 45mpg! But thats mainly down to going slow due to heavy traffic and it running a tad lean top end.
