Front fogs question

Hi, i'm retro fitting some fogs on my 9n (thanks M7) and i'm wondering if I have to use the VW foglight relay? unsure what relay to get basically, mole doesnt say in his guide. Also to save me buying a new switch, can I run the fogs off my rear switch point also? anyone know where this is on the multi connector going into the headlight switch or any ideas how to find out?

i think the 9n set up is the same as the 6n2! the wiring loom is already behind the lower grilles i think!!
i would also buy a new switch because i personally wouldn't want my rear fog on at the same time as my fronts if it was possible!!
nothing more irritating than someone in front with their rear fog on in good conditions at night!!

defo no wiring already there, i'm gonna have to run the wires myself, following moles guide. Managed to get a switch for a tenner! so i've fitted that (takes 10 seconds) and i'm gonna go around this afternoon getting wire and a relay, might need a connection thing to put into the fog switch pin on the connector behind the switch tho. I'll keep you all posted on how I get on.

u were lucky with the switch mate, my old switch was broken na di couldn't get it out!
had to take it to VW in the end and they had to take half the dash apart to get the switch out!!

if you go along to vw parts they will look up the fog unit on Etka and tell you exactly whic parts you need for them. they gave me one of the plugs as i told you the other night which i went away and checked. it fitted but i didnt bother getting the rest as its hardly ever foggy.
but vw parts will sort you out im guessing

bought the relay and all that today and started fitting them, then it rained

so i've got a fused + lead and the earth lead sorted, got the switch in the dash with half of the "control lead" in place ready for me running the wire thru the bulkhead. currently sitting waiting for the rain to stop, then i'll do the rest of the under bonnet stuff and test them using the battery feed as the control. Not bad really so far and all for under Â£50. Oh and dandiesel, my new switch sticks in too when I try to remove it, so I push it in and twist to remove then push it from behind because I removed the fusebox cover to get in at it

oh rite, on my old switch, one of the retaining clips would not retract so i couldn't pull it out!! was a rite pain!!

Yay! all in, fitted and working

Look great, i'm dead pleased with them. Got them done last night. Hardest part was getting the wire thru the bulkhead, here's how I done it for reference.

Got a thin brasing rod (brass welding rod) and taped the wire about 3 inches up it, then I went in the passenger footwell and found a wire/pipe that comes thru from the engine bay behind the ABS unit, I poked the brasing rod thru the rubber gromit at the side of the wire/pipe thingy and it came out in the engine bay, no problems so far so I guess I didn't do any damage, lol. Anyone know wtf that wire/pipe is anyways?
