Brake noise?!?

Post by AKs_SlickPolo »

Does any other 9n owners experience this or know what it may be?

Basically when i brake i get sort of a light rubbing noise, as if the pads are rubbing on the disc in a normal way but you can hear it brake when your inside even when quite slow :?

Sounds normal but never heard it from the inside on any car, just wondering if other people hear it too

But then again this is the only car ive driven so far that has ABS and brake discs all round, so could this be anything to do with it?

Ive never noticed it as i normally have the stereo on so the noise may well have always been there but not heard it

Any ideas?

i get a funny scraping noise when i first drive it after its been sitting for a day.
like its scraping all the rubbish off the discs, then the noise goes after breaking a couple of times.

only thing i have noticed

it is actually more of a light scrapping noise as u described, but can only be heard from braking at low speeds really. Like if i were to break from 50mph it will not be heard. But i know even after a little drive it still makes this noise :?

I did a search on google and found that some cars brake pads make a light scrapping noise to inform that they are worn. How often should brake pads be changed in general?

Ive not had a look at them, but when i fitted my alloys (over a month ago) they seemed to have plenty of life. Also if they were worn though wouldnt a dash light come up?

i have the same noise. my pads are fine and i have it, i would assume that they are ok. the pad light should come up on the dash if they are low but just have a quick look at them and if they are anything less than around 1.6mm then i would have them changed

Cheers mate 8) hopefully nothing to worry about :D - I didnt check too long ago and had plenty of meat. Ill check again anyways. So do you have it constant as i describe, or does it dissappear once you drive for a bit?

mine seems to be at lower speeds aswell, say between 10 and 20mph.

tonight tho after posting about this earlier, my front brakes have started squeaking just when you are about stopped dead  will have to give them a clean tomorrow

I get this, they also make a thudding noise when I brake just before the car stops only seems to do it when the brakes are cold. I heard it's something to do with the pads needing de-glazing? :?
