Lowering springs fitted at last

Post by thedees1 »

Hey guys

I had a go at fitting my spings myself as i could not wait to get them done

Both rear springs went on perfect without compressors

But the fronts are a diffrent story after lots of swearing etc and putting it all back together i cant get the top bolt on as shown in the pictures.

Are the front ones a compressor job???

I dont wont to go out and buy a set if there not needed

Any advice would be great

also its looking sweet with ie being lower in the bottom pic

yup you will need compressors for the fronts only, as you have found out.
the spring needs to be loaded for it to fit on the dampers properley hence the need for one.
i admit the backs were a piece of pi** to fit :)

Ive got the compressors today, but im lost with them

can you give me a bit of help with fitting the front ones.

I take it ive got to take the whole shocky etc out then compress the spring then pop it in then hey presto??

The only prob i could see me having is to get the compressor off the spring. There does not seem lots of room it the top to screw them off once on

if you can help me then it would be great

yeah take the whole shocky out so its on a workbench or something.
compress the old spring so it can be released.
Then compress the new spring and pop it on.

im sure fitting coil-overs is the same as just fitting springs, because when i bought my coilies the damper was seperate from the spring and needed compressing o fit on the damper for the front.

hope that helps
its much easier to show someone than tell them though :?
