Post by Mayuk Modessa »

Is it any good or a waste of money and if so how much power increase can you get from it?

I don't believe that the ECU used in the Polo GTi allows remapping unless you have one of the last ones to be made (AVY engine code)? Typing this from memory but IIRC most of our cars require a chip rather than a remap. Custom Code is an option, some people on here have got it! Have a look at JBS' website for more info, I think they've carried out a few applications on the Polo GTi for various owners from this forum. :)

I fancy the custom code whrn I'm rich again :)

I've completed the exhaust, and the BMC filter. Now I can see that the two choices I have left are performance stainless steel manifold (eg supersprint or a copy thereof), and custom code remap :)

Worth a pop for a claimed 12-15bhp extra plus an increase in torque, smoothed-out power curve and rolling road tests before and after the remap all for about £400!

I want to get a rolling road session going too, would be interesting to know what my Polo is kicking out with exhaust and induction kit :)

BMC Induction Kit next on my list, then hopefully a remap or chip. Rolling road would be good, dont know of any in my area.

Si, can you see the back box on your ss exhaust when you look at the rear of the car :?: As i can on mine.

My exhaust is near identical to standard with regards to its position and tailpipe style. Its a neat little job that I'm well chuffed with, the tailpipe isn't visible unless you are pretty much on the floor looking at the back of the car haha! I can take some pictures if you wish (would post them in a seperate thread)? :)

We were seeing about sorting a RR day, there was a feeler in Meetings & Events.

We'll have to speak to Doug when he's back on here.
