M.P.G

Post by Polo Paul »

Worked out my MPG over this tank and i have got 39.4 MPG. Now this might not sound so great but considering i dont hang around at any time in my car and a couple of 100 mile trecks on the naughty side of the motorway speed limit i am very impressed with it. Also included in this was some off road drag racing with a Seat Leon. I dont redline my car ever but i definately drive it spiritedly, so all in all very impressed with my little 1.4 of late.

Whats everyone else get? mine was 339miles on 8.6 gallons of fuel giving me 39.4mpg.

Although I've got a GTi, I usually get about 280-290 town driving.

Thats from between £40-£45.

With a bit of Motorway driving I've had 320.

Thing with a gas conversion is you'd have to do about 20k miles before you got the cost of the conversion back in savings

I've had 504 miles to a tank before.

Tis a 1.9 D though, worked out at 57MPG all from one days full motorway driving thanks to my sister! Still had a bit left in the tank as well but what with it being a diesel I didn't want to run out cos it was well into the red.

this is to polo boi

i dont fink gas conversions are worth it cus wen u switch from petrol to gas wen driving u loose alot of power ( bout 30% ) n my friend hadit done in a 2.0 car and the performance was crap but up to you but remember your car is already a 1 liter so your proformance mite be bad
let us know how you get on

I made a useful MPG calculator for this kinda thread ages ago

http://www.thirteentwelve.com/mpg.htm

if you search for my username and mpg you should see plenty of threads I posted about it

I did a 1200 mile weekend and recorded my mpgs for it all.

In my 16v I get between 260 and 300 from a tank - depending on how much I boot it, how often I sit in traffic and just how much motorway miles I was doing.

The best I ever got was 330 miles out of it (full to red light coming on) and then as I'd driven from Manchester to Bodmin Moor I got scared and filled up rather than seeing if I could make Truro or not...

I have found using Optimax gives me slightly better mpg and the car runs generally better too.

I can normally get around 350-375 miles to a full tank. And thats with town driving - We have no motorways over here in Jersey (CI) !

I drive a 1.4 8v

How many litres/gallons does the 6n tank take? so that I can work out the mpg

its a 9gallon tank, but the easy way out it to fill the tank to the click, then measure how many miles you did, then fill it again and get a receipt telling you how many litres you replaced :D
