Hi there ppl, ive just bought myself an MK1 polo

i got the beast off of Wildchild :D

im trying to fix it up to how it originally looked, i just bought an original radio off ebay for it :D

wouldnt have had to do too much work to it but Wild decided to put 10 speakers in it and then take them out, so it's like driving a piece of swiss cheese literally!

Yeh who gave me the speakers!?!?!?!??! AND HELPED ME PUT EM IN!!!? YOU!

Also stop complaining, 26 years history, mint condition engine on 27,700 miles, garaged for 25 years and looked after well by me (except speaker input) - all for a bargain basement price that was so bloody cheap that even david dickinson would be shocked! - £250! - to a mate i might add!!!

Anyway welcome to the forums (for those who don't know this is a good friend of mine..) and he's been restoring a wood floor cover for the boot to replace the shoddy carpet that used to be there. - should look very good - although i aint seen it myself yet :)

Yeh but you have to understand it goes to someone who i know will cherish it and have fun with it, and it means ill still be able to see it on a regular basis and work on restoring it with him ;)

Your right if you care about a car thats worth more than money, i would love to know what happened to my old MK2, at the time i just didnt have the time or resources to sort her out. :cry:

Well, the only reason i got rid of the MK1 was that i found a MK2 with 30K on the clock (no rust at all with mint paint work), 10 months MOT, 4 months tax and it was a 1.1, i went to buy it for my younger brother as a tread for his 17th, but he said to me he didnt want a car as he realistically couldnt afford it.

So i kept the MK2 over the MK1, as the MK1 needs some work doing to it and i was going to need a car for alot of dual carriageway/motor way driving over the next few years as i'll be driving alot for work & going to uni next year and i didn't want to destroy the MK1s valuable and rare low mileage and good condition. I was going to keep it, but thought its just going to waste so i sold it to DirtyEngineer (my best mate), who's currently been putting alot of time into restoring bits of it - me helping as well.

I use the MK2 now and since its a 1.1 it allows me to do dual carriageways / motorways without really worrying about ragging the engine stupid (mk1 was 895cc).

Sensible enough, but im fairly sure you cant break these 895cc engines!

Good to hear its gone to a good home, and both of you can get some enjoyment out of it and put some hard work in.

No i'm sure i wouldnt break it :) i managed several long trips on motorways with 4hours+ solid driving and it had no problems at all.

But more point was that my MK2 will take 80mph+ fine, where as the MK1 would struggle..
