Card Cloned/Details taken

Post by neilw »

I thought this would never happen to me, as im always super carefull, hiding my pin at cash machines, shredding documents, making sure theres no crap on my PC when using internet banking, But somehow some one has cloned or taken my card details.

I noticed two payments to tesco mobile which I dont use when I checked my balance this morning. Theres other transactions of around £400 which me and the building society cant see what they are untill tommorow. My cards stopped now and the building society been really helpfull. Hopefully I'll get my money back!

Just a warning you can never be careful enough!

Argh!!

Good luck with the bank mate, I really hope you can recover your cash. At least the card has been stopped now but thats no consolation when the money has already been spent! :?

Let us know how you get on!

Cheers

that sucks mate!!

u have to be soooo careful nowadays, sometimes there are little card readers attached on cash machines that scan ur card details as it goes into the machine!

my g/f had this happen to her and the bastards went in2 the bank with the account number etc and tried to take £1400 out in one go!!

luckily she didn't have anywhere near that in there, coz she wasn't using the account anymore and the gits were caught and prosecuted!!

hope u get it all sorted soon matey!!

Dosent look so bad this morning! I think I must of Blocked the card before the big debits when throught as my available balance has gone back up. Only lost £60 in total, all to tesco mobile topup, Which I dont own so should be easy to prove it was'nt me and get my money back.

Good to hear that. My sister lost £300 on a credit card that she chopped up years ago.

I work in the Card fraud department at Barclaycard and if your bank has the same policies as ours then I doubt you'll have any problems getting your money back if your card was skimmed then your bank will take the hit and lose the money. So you'll probably have your money back in a week or two they just have to wait for their investigations teams to make sure it's not first party fraud.

I like it when there's a topic I know stuff about

At my local tesco aparently people are putting something in the machines to clone your cards and have notices everywhere notifying people but why not put some cctv in place to detect suspicious behaviour? duuh
Anyways same thing happened to my mate and he got his money back so you should be alright too...

Don't tell me, the flight was to the USA? Untraceable PAYG mobile? Ohh the possibilities!

Damn you Tom, you beat me on this thread! :p

Im not sure what on where the flight was going but the price £418 is about right for a transatlanic flight, It was Aire Lingus.

It is abit dodgy.
