stainless exhaust system cat-back or decat, owner's choice!
    stainless mainfold
    chipped
Then you're looking at in the region of maybe 150bhp? Would make a noticeable difference compared to standard IMO :)

Cheers
150?

you wish :D

more like 135, 140 utterly max

tbh, all waste of time modifications if you are after lots of power, only thing i would do is the manifold, can get those for under £200 off ebay,

£150 on a bmc air filter is an utter waste of money

^^^^It's true^^^^

Zorsts and induction kits only really serve a purpose with BIG engine mods, and then that generally rules out off the shelf aftermarket zorsts because you would need something less restrictive for a big turbo conversion.

But still it's stainless steel, so it should outlast the rest of the car (thats the only real performance gain)

TBH I'm not after LOTS of power, just a healthy boost in the figures and a bit of extra "oomph" from my GTi. I am well aware that the 1.6-litre lump isn't very tuneable in comparison to other VAG engines but I'm happy with the money I've spent so far and intend to go through with a custom code chip next year. I believe 150bhp is acheivable, but obviously can't prove anything until I've had the aforementioned remap and have rolling-road printouts as proof

I agree with Si on this one.

I think that '135-140bhp utterly max' is a bit off the mark. Fair enough all cars are different and that some will produce more horsepower than other.

However, my car made 132bhp as standard. So are you really say that if i added the 4 items mentioned above (i now have BMC fitted btw), that i'd be lucky to achieve 3-8bhp?

Surely you're aware that most of these cars don't make standard bhp. They are all producing that little bit extra.

You add all the stuff listed, yeah i think you could get close to 150bhp.

the exact spec above, bar the 4 branch, but with the addition of a decat is what ryan has on his,

On rollers makes 137bhp

so yes i really am saying that adding all of those thing will not give you 150bhp

Also rolling roads are never 100%, if you want your cars true figure you would need to go to at least three RR's and then take an average figure

But there are also other factors that will influence the figures given

Temperature, Humidity, Tyre pressure etc

That's not what i asked. I asked on a car that already makes 132bhp as standard. You didn't mention what it had before adding all those things. Have you got a figure?

Your missing the point, as said above, all cars are different some produce more bhp than others before modded.

I also agree that all rolling roads will produce different results but to say that you would need to visit at least 3 different ones is nonsense. In other words any person who gets there RR'd or chipped, you wouldn't believe the figure until they'd had it done another 2 times?

All sounds a bit serious to me.

No thats not what im saying at all, just saying how to get a more accurate figure if you want it (as those tiny gains obviously are very important)

After all if your putting induction kits and zorsts on your car theres very little to gain, so little to gain that it could get compleatly lost in the inaccuracy of the RR figures, therefore you need to get more accurate with those figures to see where all you hard work and money has gone.

If you want a faster car it makes more sense to go and buy one, but if you really love car modding and it's your hobby then thats fair enough.

Im not arguing dude, just trying to pass on facts and cut out the bull****
