Post by olop_chris »

Wheres the best place to buy one? has anyone bought one and had any experience? I want one to tighten up the handeling a tiny bit more

Also wheel spacers...
Take a look on page 4

I have an OMP front upper strut brace. Got it from Demon Tweeks http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk Personally I did find it to make a difference, initial turn in seems sharper.

Also got an OMP lower front strut brace that I've never got round to fitting :)

Ah brilliant, don't suppose you could show me a picture of it? not too much hassle to fit?

Couple of quick pictures. Problem being a red strut brace on a red car doesn't show up very well!

Hey Chris, the car's looking good (damn, I want a black GTI :D)

I can help you with the spacers, though. I'd recommend eibach or H&R spacers, as they come with longer bolts. IIRC, the GTI wheels are 6J, so a 20mm spacer would widen your car's track by 0.7874 inches. A 20mm widening is ideal, and there's room for wider spacers if you so desire. I hearing somewhere that anything less than 15mm isn't a hubcentric spacer, and a hubcentric spacer is what you need,

Spacers should be around £50/£60 for a pair. I'm due to order mine from http://www.mstuning.com who distribute H&R, BBS, sebring products. I hope to have mine ready for E38 8) There's a dude on the forum who sells them (DPM autostyling) and he should do you a good deal on a set of H&R or Eibach spacers. Also, have a gander at http://www.europerformance.co.uk, for Eibach spacers.

The only downside is that they don't come with locking nuts, and have to be ordered separately. I need a set before E38, too .

Apologies for length.

Hey Ollie, cheers for the the info there on spacers!

I can't help but feel that if i had 20mm spacers, my wheels would be catching the lining of my arch all the time, as at the moment they're under the arch and there's a lot more room for taking corners abit faster than usual lol.

I'll catch up with you at E38, and you can show off your spacers for me 8)

Yeah, touch wood that I should have them on by E38. You should be ok with the spacers, I may take a measurement to see how tucked in my RXII's are, and see whether they're suitable for 20mm spacers.

Hey, nope not had my arches rolled. My car doesn't really scrub at all, only around sharpish corners abit too quick sometimes.

Apparently i've got a 60mm drop!
