I recently got rid of my mk4 Polo as it had no soul and swapped it for a SEAT cordoba SX, love the cordy but it drinks like a fish, so i want to get a second car thats cheap to buy, economical, reliable, and good on insurance............. i think you have probably worked out where i am going with this.
Ok its been a while since i had my mk2 near enough 3 years infact, so i maybe a little out of touch with them, could you guys fill me in on a few things about them? what i need to know is:
1. Whats the tax for the year on both the 1.3 and the 1.05?
2. Have any of you got yours on classic car insurance? (heard over 15years makes a classic to some insurers)
3. Whats the insurance like? I was 18 when i had mine i'm now 22 with 4years NCB.
4. Whats the economylike? miles to the gallon etc?
5. Whats the average price of a mk2? seen a couple on ebay for around £100, i know theyre bullet proof 99% of the time so miles etc wouldnt bother me overly if it had some recent service history.
6. What is the best model to get? I had a 1.05l C squareback last time but always fancied a coupé. Wouldnt mind either way really, is there any serious difference betweem the 1.05 and the 1.3?
Cheers for any input guys
Advice Please
If i was you i would go for an early type 1.3 if possible(82-85) Coupe or square back, doesn't matter really unless of course your dropping it to the ground with wide wheel there both as good as each other.
30mpg is the lowest i get mostly town thrashing work.
Tax £110 a year
Average price £100-350
