Going Euro

Post by DubGTI »

After alot of thought about what wheels to get, ive decided to go with 15x8's

Schmidts look the dogs, but has anyone seen a GTI on Borbet BS's ?

Only thing is they are ET20 on an 8, so i need to know if they can be fitted with lowering aswell.

Ive heard of people having the offset changed by getting an engineering firm to mill out the wheels, is this a good idea ? and would you be able to make ET20's into ET25's ?

Oh also, is it possible to polish the BS's on the rim or would you have to get them chrome plated ?

Cheers

well I wouldn't consider milling the wheel a good idea, it would also mean a refurb as you'd be breaking the laquer/paint so it would corrode to s**t after the milling.

I have ET25 8J rears and they are just, and I mean just legal with 195s on them so the ET20s would be a bit dodgy

I'm not sure how ET20 8Js would work on the front with regard to arch clearance, maybe someone else has experience with this

I mean just literally milling the face that touches the hub, there is no laquer on this face anyway.

Ive kinda found out the answer to that question now, taking 5 mill off these surfaces would make the wheels ET25, but i hope theres enough thickness or the wheels might be weakened (although im sure it'd be fine).

But if ET 20's will fit, then i obviously wouldnt bother milling them down.

Really just wanna know how to go about polishing up the deep rims, i noticed Moynas has had his centeres done and they look really bling.

how do they do it ?

Cheers

I'm sure Moynas used Pure Klas, their site is www.pureklas.co.uk

They look just as good in the flesh/metal as they do in the pic 8)

I have these on mine, I have 7 front and 8 rear. I'm using 215's on the rear and its way too wide and scrubs loads.

Only got a couple pics as lost lead from digi cam!

They are 16"x7.5" dgt ones bought off ebay. Borrowed them off the convertible before i could afford the borbets. Will be selling soon as sticking the bbs's that came on the polo on the convertible (once i've refurbed them)
